The Concept
The fashion industry is known for the through away culture particularly the lower end companies. This series aims to showcase the throwaway culture from an environmental standpoint. The impact follows the user around and creates often unseen mess along the way. The images aim to visually show the mess.
References
For the aesthetic, the images has reference to Liberty Leading the People by Eugene Delacroix The painterly look combined with the dramatics colour schemes draws the eye to the image to provoke a feeling of danger.
Honda Ishirō was also referenced in the second still in the series. This iconic film relates with a wide range of people as it was one of the earliest films with special effects from its time. How often do you see someone towering over a city.
The final concept for frame 3 is the concept of fashion becoming out of control. The subject in this images is holding on whilst trying to move it. This image leaves the imagination of thinking of whats next?
Referencing – Graphic Design
Barbara kruger- an artist most recently known for influencing the high end street brand supreme was the reference for the graphics to go over the stills for the campaign. The is bold and clear way of laying out text really draws the viewer’s eye to the text first and then allows them to take a back seat into reading in to the image.
